Troop 243

Some Young People Avoid Obstacles.  Our Scouts Overcome Them.

Sponsored by St. Joseph's Church in Garden City, New York.

Purpose

It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

Journeys together.

What we've done

With more than 150 Merit Badges—from Archery and Art to Welding and Wilderness Survival—Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Boy Scouts explore their interests and improve their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. By first imagining, planning then doing their own service projects, Boy Scouts learn the value of hard work, and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off.  Add in outdoor adventures, hiking and camping, and Scouting equips youth for life.
